15 reasons to get out of the house this October: Family fun across Sumner, Robertson, Davidson, Wilson & Dickson counties.
It's officially that time of year in Middle Tennessee when we convince ourselves it's sweater weather at 8 AM... only to regret that decision by lunchtime.
But between pumpkin patches, fall festivals, Halloween celebrations, and small-town traditions, October might just be one of my favorite months around here.
So grab your calendar, round up the kiddos, and get ready to make some memories! I've gathered 15 family-friendly fall favorites across Sumner, Robertson, Davidson, Wilson, and Dickson Counties.
And whether you've lived here your whole life or you're still learning your way around Middle Tennessee, there's a little something for everyone. Shall we begin?
Sumner County | Fall Fun for the Whole Family
From barbecue and pig races to pumpkin patches and apple cider, Sumner County knows how to celebrate fall! Whether you're spending the weekend in Hendersonville, Gallatin, or Portland, these three family-friendly events deserve a spot on your October calendar.

Barbecue lovers, this one's for you! Hendersonville's PigFest brings together delicious food, live entertainment, local vendors, and plenty of activities for the kiddos.
And yes... there are LIVE PIG RACES. If that doesn't scream family entertainment, I don't know what does!
Saturday's festivities include a barbecue competition, food trucks, a kids' zone, and free festival admission.
The Front Porch Pick: Come hungry, bring the kids, and make an afternoon of it! Grab more info here.
Gallatin | Pumpkins & Pickin's Festival
Saturday, October 24, 2026 | Triple Creek Park
There's just something about a hometown fall festival that makes October feel extra special.
Gallatin's Pumpkins & Pickin's Festival brings the community together for a day of shopping local, enjoying food trucks, and making memories with the family.
One feature I especially love? The Kids Market, where young entrepreneurs get their own opportunity to participate!
The Front Porch Pick: Support a few local vendors and let the kiddos shop from other kiddos. How fun is that?! Grab more details here.
Portland | Apple Cider Festival at Bottom View Farm

If your ideal fall day involves fresh apple cider, hayrides, pumpkins, and a little countryside charm, Bottom View Farm might be calling your name!
The Apple Cider Festival brings together local makers, seasonal treats, family activities, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

A Little Front Porch Love...
One of the things I love about Sumner County is how each community has its own personality. Hendersonville brings the excitement, Gallatin brings that hometown charm, and Portland gives you a little taste of country living. Three different towns. Three different fall experiences. And plenty of reasons to love calling this part of Middle Tennessee home!
Robertson County | Pumpkins, Corn Mazes & Country Roads
If your idea of the perfect October weekend includes a little fresh air, muddy shoes, and kids who are completely worn out by bedtime... Robertson County has you covered!
Springfield | Honeysuckle Hill Farm
Fall Festival | Through November 1, 2026
If the kiddos have energy to burn, this might be exactly where you need to take them!
Honeysuckle Hill Farm is packed with fall fun, including corn mazes, giant slides, farm rides, pig races, and plenty of opportunities for family photos. And if you're looking for something a little extra, Saturday evenings bring seasonal nighttime entertainment, too!
The Front Porch Pick: Plan to spend several hours here. Between the attractions and the pumpkin patch, this is definitely more than a quick stop!
Greenbrier | Shuckle's Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch
Weekends Through October 31, 2026
Think your family can conquer an eight-acre corn maze without someone announcing, "I think we've already been this way!"?
Good luck with that one! Shuckle's brings the classic fall experience with a giant corn maze, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, farm animals, magic shows, and plenty of hands-on fun.
The Front Porch Pick: Make the corn maze a family challenge! And don't forget to let the kids pick out a pumpkin before heading home.
White House | White House Pumpkin Patch
October 2026 | 8601 Cross Plains Road
Sometimes you don't need a giant festival. You just need a beautiful fall afternoon, some pumpkins, and a reason to get everyone outside!
The White House Pumpkin Patch offers a countryside outing with seasonal pumpkins, an eight-acre corn maze, and farm activities for families. Whether you're hunting for the perfect porch pumpkin or making an afternoon of it, this is a fun little local stop.

A Little Front Porch Love...
One thing Robertson County does especially well? Giving families room to slow down, get outdoors, and enjoy the little things. And sometimes, those simple afternoons turn into the traditions everyone looks forward to year after year.
Davidson County | Spooky Fun, Pumpkin Patches & Nashville Adventures
Nashville might be known for its music, but come October, there's a whole different kind of entertainment happening around town!
From trick-or-treating with the animals to wandering through pumpkin-filled gardens and getting lost in a corn maze, Davidson County has plenty of ways to make some fall memories. Here are three family-friendly favorites worth adding to your calendar!
Nashville | Boo at the Zoo
October 16 – November 1, 2026 | 5–9 PM | Nashville Zoo
Who says trick-or-treating has to wait until Halloween night?!
Boo at the Zoo brings a whole new meaning to a wild Halloween! The kiddos can dress up, collect candy at trick-or-treat stations, enjoy special animal shows, and explore all kinds of festive surprises throughout the zoo.
Between the costumed characters, carnival-style activities, and spooky-but-family-friendly atmosphere, this one is sure to be a hit!
The Front Porch Pick: Let the kids wear their Halloween costumes more than once this year. We paid good money for those things!
Nashville | Cheekwood Harvest
September 19 – November 1, 2026 | Cheekwood Estate & Gardens
If fall had a picture-perfect Nashville destination, Cheekwood would certainly be in the running!
The gardens transform into a colorful autumn wonderland filled with pumpkins, beautiful flowers, whimsical scarecrows, and seasonal displays.
It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, snap some family pictures, and soak up a little fall beauty without having to leave Nashville.
And if you love an evening outing, Cheekwood also offers Harvest NIGHTS on select Thursdays!
The Front Porch Pick: Charge your phone before you go. Between the pumpkins, gardens, and fall scenery, you're probably going to take approximately 400 pictures.

A Little Front Porch Love...
One of the things I love about Davidson County is how much variety you can find without ever leaving Nashville.
One weekend you're exploring a beautiful botanical garden, the next you're trick-or-treating at the zoo, and somewhere in between you're wandering through a corn maze in Bellevue.
There's always something new to discover, and that's part of what makes living in Middle Tennessee so much fun!

Looking for a fun way to celebrate Halloween before the neighborhood trick-or-treating begins? Halloween in the Grove brings a little old-fashioned charm to spooky season!
Families can enjoy trick-or-treat stations throughout the historic village, games, a photo booth, costume contests, free hot dogs, and even a Halloween parade. It's a fun opportunity to get the kids outside, enjoy the community, and squeeze in a few more memories before October officially comes to an end.
The Front Porch Pick: Let the kids show off their costumes, grab a few family pictures, and enjoy an afternoon of Halloween fun before heading home for the evening festivities!
A Little Front Porch Love...
One of the things I love about Wilson County is how easily you can find that balance between growing communities and hometown traditions. Lebanon and Mount Juliet each have their own personality, but both offer plenty of opportunities to get out, meet your neighbors, and make memories with the people you love. And isn't that what finding a place to call home is really about?
Dickson County | Halloween Fun & Small-Town Traditions
There's something about fall in a small Tennessee town that just hits differently. Maybe it's the downtown streets decorated for Halloween, the community celebrations, or watching the kiddos run around in costumes while everyone enjoys a little hometown fun.
Dickson | BooFest 2026
Saturday, October 24 | Starting at 5 PM | Downtown Dickson
Calling all little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses!
Downtown Dickson's BooFest is bringing an evening of Halloween fun to Main Street, with sweet treats beginning at 5 PM, a costume contest at Holland Park at 6 PM, and story time at 7 PM.
And let's be serious... any event that gives the kids another opportunity to wear those Halloween costumes is a win in my book!
The Front Porch Pick: Bring the candy buckets and arrive in time for the costume contest. Those little costumes deserve their moment!
Charlotte | Scare on the Square
October 2026 | Charlotte, TN — Schedule to Be Confirmed
If you love the charm of a historic Tennessee town square, keep Charlotte's Scare on the Square on your radar!
This local Halloween tradition is featured on Dickson County's tourism calendar and offers another reason to explore one of the county's smaller communities.
Be sure to check the latest event announcements for this year's date and activities before making plans.
The Front Porch Pick: Make it a family outing and spend a little time exploring Charlotte while you're there.
A Little Front Porch Love...
What I love about Dickson County is that you can still find those small-town moments that make a place feel like home. From the historic streets of Charlotte to the community traditions in Dickson and Burns, there's something special about seeing neighbors come together and families make memories.
The best part of fall isn't the pumpkins. 🍂
Okay, don't get me wrong. I love a good pumpkin patch, a fall festival, and any excuse to get out of the house and enjoy this beautiful time of year.
But you know what I love even more→ Watching families make memories in the communities they call home.
Because somewhere between the hayrides, the little ones dressed up for Halloween, and the Saturday afternoons spent exploring a new town, you start to realize something... It's not just about where you live. It's about the life you get to build there. And that's one of my favorite parts of being a Realtor here in Middle Tennessee.
Whether you've called this area home your entire life, recently relocated, or you're just beginning to explore what living here could look like, I hope this little October guide helps you discover something new.
So get out there, make some memories, support a few local businesses, and enjoy every bit of this beautiful season. And if finding your place in Middle Tennessee is on your bucket list, well... you know where to find me!
With heart & hustle,
Kayla Gentry
